Note the huge smile on Rudy's face. But then
again you'd be smiling too if Doug's Headers just gave you a set of coated
round port headers and your wife just bought you a new camshaft, lifters,
roller rockers, valve covers, and best of all, a polished set of Edelbrock
aluminum heads.
What several of the club members did over the 3
days of working on Rudy's T/A was on day one: disassemble as much as we
could. We accomplished that. Reassembly took about 3 times longer
than the disassembly but was a lot more adventuresome.
We installed and degreed in a new comp cams
Xtreme Energy XE294H .250int/.256exh @.050 .519/.524 lift 1100 lobe
separation. A very healthy cam for the street along with a new set of
Harland Sharp 1.5 roller rockers.
Rudy also had the outside of the heads polished
before installation so they look sweet. Nice and Shiny. He got the 87cc E
heads. Boy are those nice. And he got the Edelbrock valve covers to go
along with the heads.
The headers came by way of Rudy loaning the T/A
to Doug's for some mock up work and in return they gave him his choice of
headers. Pretty nice deal huh? We are estimating that we bolted on
approximately 120 horsepower so Rudy should be seeing and feeling about
100 horsepower gain at the rear wheels.
Rudy had his exhaust welded up today and is
making arrangements to have the car dynoed at Westech in the next few
days. Ken Crocie will be there too to due the tuning on Rudy's car to
obtain maximum horsepower and torque.
I also want to thank Rudy for providing the
project and his help, along with Tom Evans, Tim Erlich, Jerry Harding, Ken
Crocie. You all know I love working on Pontiac engines and when you get to
do it with your friends it's just that much better. Is this club AWESOME
or what?
